You want to do more business this year than you did last year, right? Of course you do. Well, at the end of the day, you have a number assigned to you. That number is the amount of homes you sold last year. It might be 350, or it could be 100, or it could be 20.
It doesn’t matter what your number is, it only matters that you have the drive, the capability, and the know-how to increase that number every single year. The best way to accomplish this is not to focus on the money, focus on helping people. It is so much more simple to focus on helping others than on earning more money. I never got to where I am thinking about how much more money I could make, I got to where I am by making sure that I was taking care of other people and their needs.
You have to confront the reality that you have a number, and your life is dictated by it. You might make a salary with 5 numbers in it, or you might make a salary with 6 numbers inside of it. While some people earn more than others, you need to remember never to compare yourself to someone else.
What you need to compare is the number that you did last year and the number that you want to do this year. You need to formulate a plan to change this number, and you need to be ready to live with the consequences that come along with increasing this number. I used to work sixteen hours a day, and it wasn’t fun, but I wouldn’t be where I am today if I hadn’t sacrificed. To change your number, it comes down to what you want to sacrifice.
Consider what habit you need to implement to increase your numbers. Be careful not to think about what you can’t do, only think of what you can do. If you see a task as a major hurdle, it will be a major hurdle, but if you tell yourself that you can do it, then you will do it.
At the end of the day you need to be willing to make the necessary changes and believe that you can accomplish them. I always say to myself, “Nothing changes if nothing changes!”
